The Great Dinosaur Eggsperiment

From giant eggs to giant lessons, dinosaurs left us more than cool fossils—they left big clues about why our planet needs love! Their extinction reminds us that even tiny actions such as recycling, saving energy, using less plastic can make a huge difference for the world we live in.

Dinosaurs lay eggs?

Long, long ago, about 66 million years ago, dinosaurs laid eggs just like birds do today! Scientists have found many fossilized dinosaur eggs, some as big as footballs and some as tiny as tennis balls. (Find out more about the smallest dinosaur egg here and the largest egg here!)

Beyond the Egg – Why Do We Need to Learn About Dinosaurs?

Dinosaurs are like Earth's climate detectives! These amazing creatures lived for over 160 million years and survived many climate changes from super-hot periods to freezing ice ages. Just like putting together pieces of a giant puzzle, dinosaurs help scientists figure out how life on Earth became what it is today and show us that our planet is always changing.

But here's the important lesson: even though dinosaurs were the biggest and strongest creatures that ever lived, they couldn't survive when the climate changed too quickly after an asteroid hit 66 million years ago. This teaches us something crucial today - our planet's climate is changing faster than ever before, and just like the dinosaurs, animals need time to adapt. By learning from what happened to dinosaurs, we can understand why it's so important to protect our environment and the amazing animals and plants that share our world today! We can all protect our planet through simple actions that make a real difference! Simple actions such as:

• Recycling prevents waste from polluting oceans and harmful effects on marine life. 

• Using less plastic stops harmful chemicals from poisoning fish and marine life. 

• Walking instead of driving reduces air pollution that destroys animal habitats and contributes to climate change. 

• Turning off unused lights saves energy and reduces greenhouse gases that warm our planet too quickly for polar bears, penguins, and coral reefs to survive.

As famous primatologist Jane Goodall once said, "What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make." Even small daily changes can help ensure today's amazing creatures don't face the same fate as the dinosaurs!
