5 Must-Seas at ONE Ocean

You’ve seen the dinosaurs. Now get ready to experience a whole different world of Oceans at Science Centre Singapore from 30 May. ONE Ocean: Every Action Ripples is an immersive and innovative exhibition using interactive technology to entertain the young and wow the young at heart. All while deepening visitors’ understanding of the Ocean. Here are five things you cannot miss: 

1. Enter Tara’s Drifting Polar Station

Experience what it’s like to be at the forefront of scientific discovery. Visitors can physically enter the dome-shaped structure with projections on both internal and external surfaces. Situated in the arctic, this polar station will literally drift with the arctic ice as part of an expedition. From structural integrity to the internal research lab, learn how the expedition happens! Backed by authentic research by the Tara Ocean Foundation. (Exhibit does not actually drift). 

2. 360 Projections

From being up close to a pod of whales to taking in the crushing silence of abyssal plains, visitors can sit back, relax, and immerse themselves in the wonders of our marine world. High-definition entertainment meets insightful education.

3. Mix Your Own Ocean Symphony

Within an acoustically isolated space, play with the sounds of the Ocean, mixing sounds of snapping sails, underwater currents, or whale songs into your own unique composition. All sounds were captured by specialised hydrophones (underwater microphones) on board the Tara.

4. Magnifying Micro-Planktons 

Visitors explore a gallery of motion-activated screens that reveal each organism’s function and unique characteristics. Did you know that microbiomes actually have a vital role in maintaining Ocean health? These are everywhere, all over the Ocean but are too tiny for the naked eye too see. Now, we can finally get up close. 

5. Embrace the KRAKEN 

Everyone has heard of the ferocious Kraken in stories of the seven seas. Listen to the legendary tales of some of the world-famous underwater creatures with shadow puppets and directional speakers underneath our very own lit-up kraken. We promise it’s cute. 

BONUS: VR Experience

For an extra $10, grab a VR headset and journey down into the Ocean in a high-tech capsule, exploring and learning about kelp forests and seagrass meadows. You may even see a dolphin swim by you!
